Rude People, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 674

Essay

There are a lot of different types of people in the world, and the hardest to deal with are rude people. These are those that you would most likely ignore. A rude gesture or a rude comment is always unnecessary, and can raise a lot of conflict. It is better to brush off any rude behavior, but when this kind of behavior is directed towards us, we, at most times, do not take it lightly.

Just the other week, while driving down to do some errands, someone in a blue sedan cut me off at an intersection and was going at a ridiculously fast speed. A lot of people experience a number of incidents where a rude driver is involved. At times, I do admit that I am not the most courteous of drivers there is. However, when it comes to rude drivers, a number of people really get ticked off. This, I guess starts all that road rage. It is when people think that they have more rights on the road as compared to others.

Going back to the person who cut me off; not only was this rude of him to do, but the fact that he knew exactly what he was doing really ticked me off. He did not just ride by, but he had to make a long and annoying beep at me. Just a couple of miles ahead was another intersection where I caught up to him. I could not help- but glare at the guy in the car who gave me a smug look as if he did it on purpose.

Now, I never met this guy, I have never seen him in my life and I did not understand why he had to do that to me and act so annoying about it after. The thing that maybe I should not have done is mind him at all, or even take it personally. Who knows? That is really how he drives, or maybe he won the lottery, is in a rush and was happy about it, or maybe he did not notice that he cut me off. Other than probably brushing it off, I should also have never glared or mouthed something suggesting anything negative. Perhaps, this caused a domino effect of rudeness to the situation.

If the man did not notice that he was acting rudely by cutting me off and being smug about it, then my behavior may have been rude towards him. He might have thought that I was being rude for no reason at all. Of course with this, when the stop light did turn green, we were in a fit of rage, trying to cut each other off. I missed my turn and ended up going in the freeway just because I wanted to get back at him.

In my effort to get the “justice” I thought I deserved, all I ended up doing was wasting time and a lot of fuel. There really was no calling a stop to it since we both believed that we were wronged. It was two exits and being cornered to a barrier after that I realized my efforts were very futile. And, since I did not know the person, there was no way or no point in trying to be in the right of the situation.

After he sped off, thinking that I would follow, I took the next exit instead and went on to do my errands. There is no point in being childish about the situation. For one thing, I could have been put in serious danger with my actions. Who knew where I might have ended up if I kept following the car that cut me off or what kind of accident I might have been involved in if I kept my rage. The best thing to do in situations like this is to ignore and keep going. Being rude back to someone who offends you does not really make anything right, or make anyone feel better. It just fuels the fire and someone eventually has to stop.
