Safe Environment for the Service Users and Service Providers, Essay Example

Field Note Assignment

The major aspects my agency is concerned with is cleanliness and providing a safe environment for the service users and service providers. Our company wants each person to be comfortable in their environment. For example, .two of the service users smoke and instead of them to smoke outside, they would smoke inside the bathrooms or other closed areas. This could pose a safety issue if they were careless with their cigarettes.  There are several flammable materials inside the building. My immediate reaction was to notify the people of the danger in their actions. I also wanted them to understand that their negligence could cause harm to others. I hope set up a counseling session where the situation can be discussed.

Safety Concern

Another safety concern that I have is some service users have been threatening to hurt or kill other service users with guns. I believe this is due to everyone being inside due to cold weather. I believe they are just frustrated from closed quarters. If I find myself in an unsafe situation, I will call 911 immediately. I have already reported to my supervisor the concern I have about the situation. I feel the threats have not been taken seriously. However, if the situation is a verbal situation, I believe that I would be able to diffuse the situation by talking to the people involved. I believe that all users will benefit from coping strategies.

Conclusion

I believe my agency has procedures in place that will ensure safety of all users. One safety protocol we have in place is that service users are not allowed to enter the work area of the service providers without authorization. This rule was set in place after a user assaulted a supervisor. Also there is a list of procedures clearly posted for users. I believe this is reinforcement for continued appropriate behavior.
