Words: 300

Research Paper

Background

Sarni Cleaners has been operating in the city of Boston since 1935. The company has consistently made efforts to invest in technology and operations in order to provide the best possible service to its customers. According to company representatives, SarniCleaners makes customer service the focus of its business philosophy and practices. The company has been a first mover in terms of investing in “green” technology:  for example, it has purchased state-of-the-art, energy-efficient vehicles for its pickup and delivery services; has adopted eco-friendly reusable dry cleaning bags made from recycled materials; and invested in other products, technology, and practices that are intended to reduce the company’s impact on the environment while also providing cost savings that can be passed along to customers. The company retains a high rating with local business organizations, has a multilingual staff that can serve a broad cross-section of customers, and has expanded beyond its home city of Boston into markets that include the cities of Lynnfield and Everret (the latter of which is home to the company’s current production facility).

Research Objectives

The primary objective of this research project is to determine what factor or factors are contributing to the stagnant revenue growth of the company. This will entail examination of a variety of internal and external environmental factors, including the following:

Limitations

The potential limitations for this project include limited or insufficient access to market research materials (such as customer survey results) and company internals (such as supply and labor costs). With these limitations in mind, however, a broad cross-section of data based on an examination of multiple internal and external factors should provide some insight into the problems facing Sarni Cleaners.

Hypothesis

The stagnating revenue growth of Sarni Cleaners is driven by a variety of external and internal factors related to rising supply costs and inadequate customer service and marketing.
