Saudi Arabia’s Justice System was said to have welcomed new judicial reforms in the. This is to set new laws which would revolutionize the country’s justice system; this is where two supreme courts, a general court and an administrative court will replace the country’s supreme justice council. Prior to this reform, the country’s administrative system was suffering many criticisms. With the change includes the establishment of a supreme court. These improvements include human rights and the business environment. The judiciary is said to be a gateway to reform and because Saudi is progressing at such an accelerated pace, development is very crucial to their country. The reform which dates within the decade, was said to present a very historic opportunity for developments in various fields. The most important beneficiary to this would be the educational system in Saudi. This reform followed because of a highly criticized administration (Cordesman, 2003, p. 194).

The United States and her allies should NOT force Islamic countries to adopt a Westernized system of Justice. Discuss why not.

The United States and the Middle East have two very different cultures. The political structures of the United States may not be coherent with how the Middle East deals with things in its system of justice. The relationship of the United States to the Middle East, Saudi in particular is that of oil and security. Saudi Arabia provides the United States with oil exports and they receive security and help Saudi in many aspects of development. United States and Saudi already have a working relationship this way, and both nations have limited tolerance of each others’ religious practices. Saudi has a very conservative and cautious monarch and would not respond to changing their judicial system very well. The United States should not force Islamic countries to adopt a westernized system of justice because their politics do not mirror that of the United States, and it would not be received well. Also, there are religious aspects in which the United States should respect. Lastly, the United States depends on Saudi for its oil exports, and the working relationship between the two should not be interfered with by force of a change in the judicial system (Vogel, 2000).
