Pages: 1

Words: 378

Essay

Program evaluation and review techniques are used in setting up a sequence of information flow that helps in sequencing information and setting up priorities. The process involves drawing out a chart that seeks to link all the different functions a process and determine their interdependence with each other (Project Management Institute). The charting out of these processes and how they interlink between the different processes is the major determinant of how the timing and planning of the different aspects of the project. The process of customer relations requires good planning and charting to determine the flow of activities and as well determining the time required to accomplish the entire process of managing and implementing of projects.

In the implementation of project management at McDonald’s is likely to affect all the other departments in different ways; more important is the consideration that the entire project is dependent on all the departments. The finance department is first affected by the project by that it has to evaluate the viability of the project and also allocate enough     resources to see the project to success. The finance department is a key in determining the flow of the PERT chart that is implemented. The accounting department on the other hand is responsible for recording and presentation of the financial transactions in a clear and concise way (BPP 45). If the accounting department is not efficient, the PERT chart will get stuck at some stages since the project management cannot access data to help them evaluate the progress made so far. This two are key components of the PERT model. Marketing depends highly on customer relations management (CRM). At McDonalds where the customers are the driving force determining all the products that are made and sold, maintaining the customers is vital in achieving sales volume. This therefore makes CRM eventually link to the Finance and Accounting functions. For a project to be successful, it is therefore vital to have a good PERT chat that helps link the different, functions and determine how the different parts play a part in the flow and therefore effectively manage the project.
