Seizing Opportunities as College Football Player, Essay Example

Pages: 3

Words: 848

Essay

Being successful college football player usually means to be not only physically strong, but also goal-oriented, responsible, and demanding. Football players are often believed to have certain privileges among teachers and professors as they are helping to maintain college’s good name. However, those people who suppose sportsmen’s life is much easier than that of ordinary students are mistaken. Average football player is facing such problems as combining sports with studying, constant development of physical skills, and almost no free time. On the one hand, playing football can give each person a lot of opportunities and career objectives. On the other, it requires constant practice and sacrificing time spent on other activities.

Each football player can take advantage of the opportunities to be the best player he could be. In fact, everyday training is not only challenging, but also useful. Attempting to be in good physical shape is really helpful for keeping one’s body healthy. Muscle development, endurance, and strength are those benefits that may be obtained while training. Moreover, because football is a team game, one cannot win the match without the help of other players. Therefore, friendship, cooperation, and mental acuity are developed. Each time a player gets on the field he has to deal with fear of making a mistake and of losing important match. Though most people believe that football players are simply doing what they are supposed to do – grabbing the ball and running, they are mistaken. Football is a struggle of two teams willing to win, and the one that strives for the victory stronger usually wins.

Being a football player also means creating goals to become an all around player on the field. It is not a secret that most of the players are unable to perform such results, so that coach could use them on different positions. For instance, one cannot be a quarterback and a gunner as these two positions imply developing different skills. Quarterback should be well-aimed in order to pass the ball directly to the gunner. The gunner should be fast enough to grab the ball, while it is flying. Combining these positions is physically impossible as it involves development of two different skills. Though there are such positions that could be performed by a single player, it is very difficult to be well-prepared for both of them. Nonetheless, creating such goals to perform several tasks on the field enables a player to spend a lot more time participating in the football game.

High school football payers are often proposed to continue their education in many colleges. Despite the fact that professors treat sportsmen as any other students, receiving certain benefits is essential. It is not a secret that being a football player can be a possible factor if person is entering college or university. Secondly, as player is involved in sports, he can be sure of getting excellent marks practically in any course connected with physical activity.

Finally, football is a key to one’s future career. Every single kid has dreamed in the childhood of becoming famous sportsmen. Football team players are always considered to be one step ahead of ordinary students. This game can make a person get money being involved in the activity they enjoy. In fact, most of professional football players earn millions of dollars annually. It can also be argued that only one of a thousand can be talented enough to make money out of playing. Nonetheless, profession of the football player requires the same effort as any other one. It is not a secret that only few people become successful businessmen, singers, or celebrities. Such professions require not only incredible desire, but also natural talents. In its turn, football requires enormous physical strength. The fact that person plays for college or university means he already has natural skills. Thus, by practicing and training each sportsman has a chance to become famous. Sam Adams, Mark Brunnel, John Elway once were ordinary students. These players became successful and not get everything a person can desire.

Person should also consider that being a football player is rather challenging task. It involves competition at a high level. Though many students are trying to play in the team, only few of them actually participate in college football matches as coach wants to make sure team wins the game. Secondly, any person faces challenges of performing roles of a good player as well as a leader. On the one hand, performing excellent results is impossible if every football player neglects the team. On the other, without taking initiative from single player team risks losing important scores.

Football is not only game or hobby, but also a way of life. Those people who decide to devote all of their free time to this game believe that it is an excellent opportunity to enhance one’s talents and skills. Sportsmen do not choose this game simple because of the possible benefits they might get. Those advantages are only additional factors associated with football. I believe that football is just enjoyable activity. However, it may also my future career as I still have enough time to decide.
