Essay

Having conducted a survey among senior athlete students, we able to analyze and compare their answers in terms of academic and sports-related goals and objectives, their emotional condition, and the views and perspectives on the future studying.

According to the study, the majority of the students that participated in the athletics at California State University Bakersfield based their decision on a will and desire to obtain a degree rather than continuing to compete in a particular sport or achieve tangible results on championships. Most of the participants achieved their goals due to the help and mentoring of coaches or teammates, rather than themselves. Surprisingly, the majority of the students refused to talk about mental or physical abuse. Neither did the students give any feedback on whether participation in athletics boosted their academic, social, physical, and emotional growth. Most of the students emphasized the kindness and understanding of the coaches, though some of the athletes required more rules and support, as well as better understanding of academic objectives. Nearly half of the participants of the survey agreed that the coach staff was sensitive to the demands places on time and practically no one proposed any changes to be made in intercollegiate athletics. Some of the students underlined that women are treated better at California State University Bakersfield, and stated that basketball and some other sports get better treatment than others.

In general, the survey that was conducted at California State University Bakersfield shows that the athletes receive great opportunity to both get a degree and enhance their physical abilities. Discrimination, neither in sports, nor in sex is minor and does not affect the learning process. The professionalism and understanding of staff contributes to the success of the athletes.
