A friend of mine was undergoing a particular family problem. She mentions how she wants to just leave everything behind and just embrace the life that she wanted to embrace ever since the first place. At first, I felt I had nothing to do with it so I would rather just keep quiet, after all, it was her decision that matters at this point. However, when I saw her five year old child, I knew I had to do something about it, if not for her, at least for her child who needs a complete family. I knew how it was to belong to a broken family, and I simply hope that her child does not undergo the same process I have gone through.

First, I thought, what would Jesus do given this particular situation? Being a distinct individual who knows the value of family, he would certainly have created a scenario that my friend would be able to better relate to thus allowing her to become more responsive to the right process f deciding on the matter. Using the Holy Scriptures as written in Matthew 19:9 that says I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, except on the grounds of sexual immorality,* and marries another commits adultery; I was able to convince my friend to think things through, to become more intuitive in thinking about what she is going to put her family through in case she does go on with her decision. I also pointed out during our conversation about the fact that she would be sinning against God’s principles on marriage if she does go on with her decision. Allowing her to see the more positive side of her marriage and giving her a chance to see the side of her husband on the matter finally convinced her that divorce was not the answer to the problem.

Given the results, I do plan t follow up on her every now and then and continue supporting her with her desire to keep her marriage intact and her family within a solid point of union. I prepare particular reading materials specifically based on the bible that could support my desire of pointing out to her that in this struggle, she is not alone, that God himself is supporting her desire therefore she should not tire-out.
