Servant Leadership: Jesus and Paul, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 294

Essay

Even though Paul was behind bars and had hit a certain barrier, he did not allow this incident to stop his mission. As such, he used the time spent in prison carefully, keeping his priorities in order and reflecting on his continued dedication to spreading the love of Jesus. Like Paul, we will reach barriers in our work as well. While we will not be physically restrained, it is more likely that we will encounter mental barriers (Agosto, 2005). Therefore, it is helpful for us to look to Paul as a model and determine how we can get past our roadblock and continue with our mission once we are freed.

One of the most important lessons that Paul teaches us is that we should have a positive attitude (1a Philippians 1:12-18). If we feel that our good work will end in a manner that will help others, we will be better able to persevere through challenges because of the inspiration we feel to contribute to society. Even though Paul was imprisoned for his beliefs, he never stopped believing, which is an admirable trait. Therefore, it is important for us to never stop believing as well. It may be beneficial for us to revise our plans throughout our journey, but we should never give up hope because hope is what will make us successful.

If we have purpose in what we do, we will be able to succeed. It is important for us to understand that there is a reason for our actions. On a large scale, we hope that our research will improve the quality of medicine. On a small scale however, we hope that we will achieve our personal accomplishments. This is what keeps us going.
