Shanghai City in the People’s Republic of China is one among the most prosperous cities in Asia especially during the 1930’s when it was the European regions that are making a name in the world economy. From being a simple city that is grounded upon tradition and the Chinese culture, Shanghai is one of the cities in the country that fully embraces the possibility of national globalization. Part of the most noted characteristics of Shanghai is its well defined invitation to tourists from all around the globe. Tourist destinations in the city boost a great source of economic confidence not only for the city’s residents but for the whole country as well.
As of today, Shanghai’s source of primary income is noted to be based on the industries of commerce, finance, media, culture, technology, fashion and modern transport. As mentioned earlier, the past has provided a great source of cultural backbone for the city and its people. Although completely open to the age of modernity and progress, the city still remains ‘Chinese’ by heart. It could be realized that somehow, it is because of this that even though China has been considered to be finally opening its arms to what the world has to offer, it still remains rooted to its origin.
Considerably, it is because of this fact that even though modernity has always been a part of Shanghai’s background and current status of progress, it is expected to remain relatively connected to its cultural origin. This could be surely seen through the aspect of fashion. Women have been specifically seen to present this particular change in the society. Relatively, back in the 1930’s and 1960’s conservatism is a theme of women’s fashion. Chinese women were noted for elegance and elitism.
The way they dressed noted what status in the society they belong to. However, when the 1970’s came in, a better condition on seeing women and their fashion has become a matter of concern. It could be realized that the entrance of liberalization into the country from the western countries through the introduction of international trade has opened the Chinese community into the ideals of women-freedom. This fact has been specifically presented through the changing fashion of women. From being conservative and social-based, there are now fashion choices that are released to the general public which they could choose from according to their own liking. This even made it possible for the Chinese fashion to enter the world’s international trade exchange system.
This is the reason why in the coming years of further improved trading systems, China is expected to provide a more improved system of fashion that would identify the Chinese community’s capacity to provide the women with the reputation and recognition they deserve to receive. This is specifically true when it comes to the fashion that is being specifically offered to women [both local and foreign] in Shanghai. Given that the western regions have a great impact on the modern culture of China; it could be analyzed that the influences coming from the western regions would also affect the fashion creation in China. Based on this fact, it is then expected that the future fashion in the city would be sexy, a little bit revealing and specifically adorning the women’s body-shape. Notably though, it is expected that the designers of the city and the country as a whole, would always be grounded on tradition. Hence, noted for the silk cloth as the trademark of Chinese fashion, a touch of conservatism and class would remain specifically obvious on the future fashion released in the country.
It is expected that through the years of development, Shanghai China, although considered to be the most progressive cities in the country, would continue to embrace the roots of their culture. It is because of this that it is expected that the city would be able to provide a fashion statement for women between the ages 20-60 that would not only be reflective of the Chinese culture but would also be acceptable to the whole female population around the globe.
