Introduction/explanation of the KI

Theory of knowledge encompasses sharing ideas on specific areas of knowledge pertaining to a knowledge question. The question in this essay relates to  how knowledge is shared and the   influence it has in  shaping of personal knowledge The two specific areas that I have selected are for  this argument are human science and natural sciences. Further questions pertain to clarifying whether it is an area of knowledge sharing shaping experinces or not Therefore, before  any arguments are advanced it must be clarified, what is an area of knowledge (AOK) in relation to ways of knowing (WOK) as it pertains to knowledge sharing and personal shaping in human and natural science.

Areas of Knowledge from a theory of knowledge (TOK) perspective relates to disciplines classifying knowledge. These disciplines include medicine, sociology, health education psychology. Essentially, these disciplines might also be viewed as applying ways of knowing. This is so because of the sceintific methods through which knowledge was acquired. The decision making process and conclusions formulating theories and assumptions in that discipline influence ways of knowing. From my observations however, it could then be advanced for the purposes of this argument that ways of knowing through methodological applications ought to be a scientific process. A scientific process deals with methods of research and providing evidence for conclusions drawn. Areas of knowledge (AOK) is the outcome of ways of knowing (WOK). This means that areas of knowledge are disciplines. These disciplines become ways of knowing through scientific research providing evidence that they are true and are areas of knowledge, For example nursing is a science as well as a discipline. How to function applying knowledge gained though nursing becomes the way of knowing. This the outcome of that area of knowledge.

In answering the question of how shared knowledge can shape personal knowledge is predicting that ultimately, ways of knowing through methodological applications are scientific processes, influencing shaping of personal knowledge into an area of knowledge

Argument

The argument contained in this section of the essay pertains to knowledge sharing influencing shaping of personal knowledge. How is knowledge shared in human sciences? In Human sciences knowledge is shared by engaging in activities, sharing experiences in a group. For example, people who congregate at a barber shop for fun apart from having their hair cut engage in a human science experience. In the same way students in a school with a common purpose to learn participate in a human science activity. Human scientist study the forces that draw these associations such as desires of being gregarious, which is a part of human nature. As people interact they talk and taking produces different levels of knowledge. Some may be scientific and others non-scientific.

Students in a school setting sharing views on mathematical problems may communicate knowledge perceived as scientific. However, the barber shop men may speak about issues occurring in the news, at home and in the political arena. Certainly, if viewed from a social science perspective in its raw data form, without supporting evidence that knowledge communicated lacks the methodology employed in ways of knowing. No research to provide its validity was conducted and therefore, at that stage it is just a human science experience.

Arguments against human science knowledge acquisition, however, challenge its focus mainly on evaluating and interpreting human interactions in understanding knowledge evolution observation of behavior in specific settings such as the classroom or barber shop setting. More importantly it is expected to offer objective critique of the human condition aligning its findings to reality. My thesis advances that ways of knowing through methodological applications ought to be a scientific process, whereas the areas of knowledge (AOK) is the outcome of the process. How then is knowledge shared in human sciences? Can it be argued that it is shared purely from a ways of knowing premise or has it just emerged from the outcome, area of knowledge?

Further, arguments pertain to the science of human sciences in articulating whether knowledge is shared from a ways of knowing perspective or merely area of knowledge forum

There have been immense ambiguities and conflict pertaining to terminological inferences of science, scientific method and empirical science.  Incidentally, these are the parameters complicating what constitutes ways of knowing in a methodological stand point. In reality science in itself relates to a system of knowledge allowing verification of facts and truths. Ultimately, showing relationships to general laws. The subsequent question emerging from this argument in articulating how is knowledge shared in human sciences pertains to whether are all ways of knowing are built on truth, facts, scientific methods, or  empirical science.

My contention is that if ways of knowing in any area of knowledge, then the methods by which they have been achieved must be scientific for acceptance first as facts then truth. However, the task of proving the validity of truth constitutes a whole new discussion, which cannot be entertained in this argument. Therefore, succinctly in answering the question how is knowledge shared in the human sciences, it must be concluded that it is through ways of knowing because it is an area of knowledge in itself.

How is personal knowledge acquired and shaped in human science? It could be argued that the only personal knowledge that exist have been acquired through ways of knowing. Ways of knowing consists of methods of research which are expected to validate ways of knowing. For example, when students engage in research projects at the end of their training as a requirement of proving sound knowledge in the specific area of training his is a way in which knowledge is shared and acquired at the same time.

In answering the question posed in the other area of knowledge, natural sciences, the only difference lies in the area of knowledge itself. One is human science while the other is natural meaning the knowledge pertains to nature and no humans. The parameter are the same if not identical. Therefore, as it pertains to the two areas of knowledge projected in this argument ways of both sharing and personal shaping depends on the institution through which the shaping and sharing occur.

Counter-claim

My claim is that ways of knowing through methodological applications are scientific processes, influencing shaping of personal knowledge into an area of knowledge. The counter claim as it relates to the two areas of knowledge chosen, human and natural sciences, is if there were no ways of knowing how areas of knowledge could be perceived for sharing as well as shaping personal knowledge. Further, it is advanced that science tries to dispute facts and insist on validation of truth.

Truth for scientists must be proven in a laboratory through repeated tests called replication. This the natural scientists perception of truth and science. Whatever has been judge valid natural scientists communicate as area of knowledge derived from ways of knowing. The same processes are conducted by human scientist. They call it scientific research methods whereby the researcher must select a hypothesis or research questions, sample, conduct the process along specific guidelines and endure that conclusions are free of biases.

Well the same claim disputes the knowledge of philosophers, great thinkers of all time who did not used current scientific methods in developing ways of knowing in any science. For example, Florence Nightingale developed her ways of knowing from working with solders and observing the way they responded to care. Today her knowledge gained through that process has now become an area of knowledge in itself called nursing

Conclusion

Therefore, in concluding this argument, ‘With reference to two areas of knowledge discuss the way in which shared knowledge can shape personal knowledge, my contention from the results exemplified is no personal knowledge  exist except  for those communicated through ways of knowing,  ultimately, developing into areas of knowledge. However, there are exceptions to this rule. Florence Nightingale and many other philosophers designed ways of knowing outside of scientific rules.

Science is intended to prove that knowledge obtained through any other medium except ways of knowing is false.  In empathizing my point of view, this analogy can be disputed as exemplified by Florence Nightingale and other philosophers. Nursing science knowledge evolution can be understood as personal knowledge. Where were the ways of knowing to acquire this knowledge? There was no area of knowledge hen in Great Britain called nursing. How was this knowledge shared? Did it shape her personal knowledge paradigm?
