The United States has been in the forefront to provide support to nations who are victims of bad regime. In the case of Syria, the United States authority has been consistently providing financial supports to the rebels, in order to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad. According to some experts, it is advisable for the American government to provide support to the rebels while taking caution. At the beginning of 2013, the US government pledged to pump a whooping $60 million to the Syrian opposition. This is happening as the opponents continue to condemn this huge spending on Syria by the Obama government. As it stands, it is overly inappropriate for the US authority to continue spending the taxpayer’s money on Syrian rebels.
While it is a brilliant idea to have allies, the rate at which the US government is offering financial support to the rebels in Syria in attempt to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad is unbearable and uncalled for. The government is involving itself with the war excessively much, a move that is obviously expensive and as such, unaffordable. Although it is proper to remove Assad from power, it would be appropriate to allow the rebels to fight on their own. They deserve to liberate their country from dictatorship, but not at the expense of the US taxpayer’s money. The American government is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to look after the Syrian civilians, affected by this ongoing war. An additional cost goes to the support of the rebels against the government of Syria. Very soon, an extra kitty will be disbanded to cater for the medical kits and treat the wounded and the sick. The US government should deviate from funding the Syrians, as it is an extremely expensive affair. Additionally, the US government has a huge debt, making it difficult to continue funding wars.
However, although a section of American people find it awkward and unnecessary to fund the Syrian rebel, it is for a good cause that the government is doing so. The funding is timely and necessary because it is being used to put up a foundation for developing skills of governance Syria will need following the fall of the dictatorial regime. The funds are necessary for use by the opposition is improving sanitation, security, and education. The funds are equally helpful in strengthening the rule of law in this country where impunity is the order of the day. Arguably, the funds will go towards discouraging revenge and vigilante killings. The funds will be used to roll out a program for use in hiring technical advisers to the Syrian opposition headquarter, based in Cairo. The $60 million kitty, disbursed at the beginning of 2013 will be partially used in purchase of communication equipment much needed by civil activists and local councils. In fighting the enemy, funds from the American government will be useful in the purchase of bulletproof vests, vehicles, and equipment for use at night. It is not bad for the US congress to approve the funding, for the sake of the suffering civilians, who require care and security.
Conclusively, it is overly inappropriate for the US authority to continue spending the taxpayer’s money on Syrian rebels. As seen, the American government should concentrate on reduce the heavy burden on the taxpayer. However, the humanitarian role cannot be neglected, besides restoring the rule of law, and liberating the Syrians from a dictatorial regime.
