Silent Cultural Revolution Through Writing, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 276

Essay

The Los Angeles community has long been composed of cultures from all over the country. Primarily focused on the white and the black divisions of culture, this particular assumption of cultural supremacy has long been presenting a cultural problem in the major communities in the area. This is where the role of the Watts Writers Workshop comes into clear view. The desire to make it easier for the black community to make a resounding call for their recognition in the society as relative members serving as assets rather than nuisance to others is the primary aim of the Watts Writers Workshop. It is through this that the view over the value of artistic creations to provide the most desired response from the society is expected to be measured through writing. Creative writing, like songs [blues] in the past, is one thing that individuals could take into consideration in defining the way they express themselves especially for the sake of determining the way they tell others of what they feel, what they want and what they perceive about in the community. Noticeably, this particular approach does make a definite indication on how writing itself is a pathway to communal development; one that is highly desired by the Black community [aiming to follow through the progress that the white communities are going through]. With these considerations in mind, the Watts Writers Workshop provides a wide opened door for those who are interested in determining their capacity to express themselves for others to hear their voices. Relatively, in this case, it is expected that a more defined approach to Silent Cultural Revolution could be better devised and guided thoroughly.
