Hulu is a website that provides video streams of television shows, clips and movies from Fox, NBC, and ABC among other studios and networks which are commercially supported. Hulu also offers web syndication services for other websites including MSN, AOL, Facebook, Comcast’s fancast.com, my space and Yahoo. Hulu achieves it extensive online distribution through video players that are embeddable, distribution partner sites, and Hulu .com which is the destination site.

Joosts content comprises short documentaries, music videos hobby shows and niche sports.  Joosts software utilizes peer-to-peer technology to deliver video content to users online. Joost offers niche programs that cannot be provided by networks which include poker and cycling hence this makes it to dominate the media. This is especially because it enjoys repeat patronage by the lovers of this sport which are mostly a rare group Joost is also a socially minded web site.First it has tabs for Groups and Friends appearing in the l inks at the top before TV and Movies. In addition it has a Joost feed which keeps a feed of everyone’s activities hence enables discovery of what’s popular. True to its social intent it keeps a feed of what everyone’s doing, called a JoostFeed, so that you can discover not only new content, but what is popular. It has also joosts that are specific to some groups and friends which are found under the tabs and favorite shows can be marked for sharing .its unique music videos can be tagged shouted or commented on. The disadvantage of joost is that it is navigational in that after completion of a video it changes to default videos very quickly and streams from one another seamlessly and hence can distract the user. There is also lack of links which can separate programs which are full length from clips. Also there are no there are no links to separate full length programs from clips.

Veoh which has part joost and the other you tube  has tout contents which deals with Fox, CBS and other smaller partners hence gives users a chance of steaming and saving  videos of high quality  from veoh software to

Personal computers which are windows based, its web portal also encourages  uploading of users content therefore full runs of shows like futurama and family guy which are unauthorized.  Veoh forms one the most social TV application. Veoh has the ability to comment and rate on the media and also allows users to create and join groups and also add friends to their profiles. Users are therefore able to share comments, submit their videos and see what others are watching,. It is the only application with a Family Filter element that excludes adult content from and optional download which enables recording of Veoh content by users.  The site and an optional download that lets users record Veoh content. user videos is the only content in veoh  and another subcategory called “Sexy”. Which appears once family filter is off offering content that is more mature.

All applications offer movies and television with player controls and each had classes and search functions to assist users in getting their shows.

Hulu however is superior to the other Television applications in that it has a large selection of Television films and shows which are clean in design and navigation. For example their screen size can equate a monitor and there is quick access to all clips and shows in that series once on the information page .in addition the information page displays comments related to the film as it shows and also cast information another reason that makes Hulu superior is that all other TV applications relies on it for shows and movies which are currently running.

TV networks have responded… to the competitor resulting from the evolving technology by trying to acquire programs that will enable program viewers to watch TV anywhere, anytime at their own convenience.

TV networks are adapting the DVRS technology which allows many TV watchers can watch a program at any time and not the time it’s being aired. For example Cooking show aired in the mid afternoon can be watched at dinner time. DVRS are available to cable subscribers and also as stand alone devices.   Media companies are also working on ways of getting TV into cars through other means not by via discs. According to Jimmy Schaeffer chairman of Carmel group there is five major services that are cellular These networks are also adapting VOD which allows users to store all TV programs ever made without using hard drives(.Maureen Ryan,2005)

According to Dan Rayburn MLBs is promising to provide the iphone which will provide a pay- per-view service and which will enable user to watch games through their phones. Cable networks like Time Warner cable, verizon and Comcast are also working towards getting into the market to offer TV services everywhere. If the cable networks get into the market it will encourage more TV viewers as they will be able to watch TV anywhere and anytime conveniently.

The proliferation of digital screens is likely to have a long standing impact on the general TV viewing in several ways.  First, the availability of TV channels will rise by significance numbers. This is especially because; the screens will be available throughout to all people who have internet connectivity. This will also be marked by an increasing geographical coverage of the TV programmes. This is due to the fact that the TV viewing will not be limited to geographical regions. The channels will be available to all viewers who wish to get to view the specific channels.

The other factor that will be highly affected by the emergence of digital screens will be the variability of the entertainment options on offer. This implies that age barriers will be effectively broken by the different companies since each will carve a market niche for itself through offering specialized entertainment packages for a chosen consumer group. This target specific programming will increase the repeat patronage to these entertainment packages and therefore creating more opportunities to penetrate the market and rake in more revenue. This is therefore the new craze. From all indications, chances are very high that the old TV viewer population will be gradually converted and hence the ordinary television will be forced to reinvent itself.
