Social and Economic Justice, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 322

Essay

For one to understand the concept of social and economic justice, there is a need to understand the meaning of justice. Justice is a set of rules that the universal world applies as guides to delivery of judgment to people. It is a universal form of determining what is right and what is wrong. The world today is struggling in its pursuit to achieving justice in terms of delivery of social services and economic opportunities. In the past decades, most countries have been victims of social and economic injustices. The process in which governments distributed resources to the public has been unfair in al spheres. This is the reason why many organizations have come up to fight against all sorts of injustices, both social and economic.

Social justice is the process of ensuring equal and fair opportunities in terms of delivery of social judgments to all, regardless of their social status, social background, or place of origin. Social justice demands that all systems in a country or the whole world provide equal platform to all individuals in terms of the judgment. For example, the judicial system should be fair to all citizens of a country or the world regardless of their color, economic status, or religion.

Economic justice, on the other hand, involves equitable distribution of national resources to all regions of a country. It also involves ensuring that all individuals have equal access to economic opportunities such as employment opportunities and accessibility to credit facilities regardless of their place of residence, color, economic background, or religion. There have been efforts by governments and human rights activists to pursue realization of this objective, but all these efforts have seen little success. Obstacles to the success of social and economic justice have been prevalent in Africa and some parts of Asia.

Despite these obstacles, there is hope that one time the whole world will enjoy the benefits of total social and economic justice to all individuals.
