Essay

Many people believe reality is what they make it. In other words, one can choose to happy or sad. So much of one’s life is centered on social interactions. From the time of birth until death, society plays an integral part in one’s life. Most people live by standards that are set by society. For example, most people will not do something that they feel will not be accepted by certain members of society. As a result, so many people live their lives trying to gain acceptance from other members of society. Sadly, many members of society live their entire lives without pursuing goals or becoming who they were intended to be out of fear of being ostracized by society.  In the past, it was taboo for members of society to go against the norm and become individuals. However, in today’s society there are many more brave individuals who dare to be different. These individuals may go against what is considered the norm sexual preference. Members of Gays, lesbians, bi-sexual, and transgender society are standing up and speaking out for the right to not be deemed and deviant of misfit in society.  Having a healthy idea of reality is the key to one’s survival. Each individual must understand that he/she is a member of society and therefore most adhere to certain standards. Yet, that individual is must be aware that rules of society can sometime hold a person back from meeting his potential. The key is being able to discern between the two aspects of and be able to meet somewhere in the middle. One should not be a slave to society, yet one should not be a deviant and threat to society. When an individual is able to discern what best interest is in his/her, he has accomplished a healthy relationship with society.
