Social Responsibility Issue, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 291

Essay

Modern manufacturing and transportation practices contribute significantly to pollution in the environment. Factories have conventionally released solid, liquid, and gas wastes that are contaminating the planet. Although many companies have not been concerned with these problems in previous years, global warming is becoming an increasingly important issue. Therefore, consumers will become more interested in companies that uphold environmental standards. Contributing to this Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) will require investment and extensive research, but promoting production methods that are minimally damaging to the environment will promote a positive message for the organization (Marriott Hotels, 2015).

To combat the CSR issue, it is important for members of organizations that are involved in production and transportation to market their intention to be environmentally friendly to the public. This can be done by issuing a CSR statement on the company’s website and by working with environmentalist organizations that could help the company restructure its practices in a manner that upholds a better standard of quality. By working directly with members of the public, the company will be able to communicate its CSR message more effectively. Furthermore, it is beneficial for organizations to begin considering how to lessen their environmental impact before this becomes a legal requirement. Scientists currently project that sea levels will rise by several inches in the next five years. Therefore, this is an immediate problem that world leaders are likely to address. If companies show an initiative prior to the enacting of these laws, they will be better able to show the public their concern for the cause, which will positively contribute to the perception of the organization in the eyes of the public (Melton, 2009).
