Social Work Scholarship, Essay Example

I am proud of my academic accomplishments but I also have the humility to realize other people have played huge role in my success over the years. My family might not have been extremely rich but I had access to learning resources, thanks to the generosity of countless people. These experiences have helped me realize we all need each other and those with more resources and skills should help those with fewer resources and skills. This is why I have decided to major in Social Work because I want to pursue a profession that will allow me to make a difference in the society.

I need this scholarship because while I may have the desire to excel in academics and dedicate my professional life to improving others’ lives, I have limited financial resources. This scholarship will enable me to focus more on studies and make the most out of all learning opportunities available at Alabama State University. College education is a foundation for future career, thus, my goal is to maximize my learning during these four years. This scholarship will not only be an investment in me but also in the society.

This scholarship will also encourage me to work even harder so that I could also secure other scholarship opportunities available to students seeking a degree in social work. I also want to set examples for younger generations that it is never late to pursue college degree because education is one of the best investments we can make in our future. I look forward to have a great time at Alabama State University and hope this scholarship will go a long way towards helping me achieve my academic and career goals.
