Socialization and Personality Differences, Essay Example

While there are several socialization and personality differences between the male and female brains, it is also important to consider that cognitive differences result from varied development and environmental exposures. It is said that females are superior in terms of visual/motor speed and language, while males are superior in terms of mechanical and visual/spatial tasks. This is supported by an understanding of socialization, which indicates that females are more able to sustain relationships, act with less aggression, and more likely to blame themselves for problems compared to men. On the other hand, men are more likely to be independent, aggressive, and display their anger. Due to these socialization and cognitive differences, there are personality effects. Females are seen as having a lower self-esteem, being more self-aware, and having a better attention span. Males have high self-esteem, are materialistic, and have a low attention span. Since gender group strengths that begin during early adolescence are strengthened during adulthood, it apparent that genetic and environmental factors reinforce these gender differences. The way we teach children and exert influence on them during their formative years has the ability to enact changes that will impact them during adulthood.
