Introduction
Toronto is the number one global city that is at risk of a housing bubble with Vancouver position fourth. There is no deficiency of ideas to curb the housing problems in Toronto. Though, the government of Canada has been responding slowly to review the proposal that will resolve the crisis. Researching the housing crisis in Toronto will enable the Canadian government to focus on this problem. The study question that this work pursues to investigate; Reasonably house pricing within a post-welfare nation: A case study in Toronto
Literature Review
This part discusses the operationist perception of social and affordable prices, post-welfarism, neoliberalism and welfarism done by other scholars. For instance, Guyadeen (2011) stated that affordable housing should be 30% of the gross income of an individual. When discussing affordable pricing, Guyadeen described social housing as houses given to people freely by the government. Matheson et al. (2014) mentioned examples of social housing which are; coop housing and non-profit government buildings.
Theoretical framework
In answering the research questions, it is significant to base the evaluation within a precise context. The theoretical lenses chosen for this discussion relate to the sociological explanation for the housing crisis in Toronto
Research Methods
The best research method that will be used to explore the research question will involve a comprehensive literature review and detailed interviews. In many housing types of research, this method has been used and has been a topic to demanding peer-reviewed assessments.
Journal Review
Richard Florida (2018) in his article stated that Toronto encounters a problem of housing affordability that poses a substantial threat to the well-being of Torontonians and also their ability to accomplish their economic progress. For the last several years, Toronto has transformed their regional hub into big international cities. However, the high pricing rate of houses is not favorable to the majority Torontians forcing them to live in streets. The low wage Torontonians such as the elderly, students and immigrants faces affordability issues, and this situation seems to advance if something will not be done. The national housing strategy can intervene in finding a solution to the housing crisis. They can accomplish this by constructing houses that are affordable.
In his finding, Guyadeen (2011) argues that big cities such as Toronto have been experiencing an escalation of a reasonably priced housing crisis. Around 0.64 million people who live in Toronto including immigrants and people with disabilities need some aid in meeting their accommodation requirements. Out of the 0.64 million, 0.216 million households are in dire need of houses while 66,000 people are in the waiting list.
