Journal Review

Richard Florida (2018) in his article stated that Toronto encounters a problem of housing affordability that poses a substantial threat to the well-being of Torontonians and also their ability to accomplish their economic progress. For the last several years, Toronto has transformed their regional hub into big international cities. However, the high pricing rate of houses is not favorable to the majority Torontians forcing them to live in streets. The low wage Torontonians such as the elderly, students and immigrants faces affordability issues, and this situation seems to advance if something will not be done. The national housing strategy can intervene in finding a solution to the housing crisis. They can accomplish this by constructing houses that are affordable.

In his finding, Guyadeen (2011) argues that big cities such as Toronto have been experiencing an escalation of a reasonably priced housing crisis. Around 0.64 million people who live in Toronto including immigrants and people with disabilities need some aid in meeting their accommodation requirements. Out of the 0.64 million, 0.216 million households are in dire need of houses while 66,000 people are in the waiting list.
