Outer Ear

Middle Ear

Inner Ear

Central Auditory System

Primal Auditory System

I will briefly discuss each function in turn

4 Outer Ear Deals with sound waves that are received which are reflected from what is termed the PINNA  ( the skin covered flabby cartilage visible on both sides of the head.

The outer ear serves the purpose of sending sound waves through the ear to the eardrum

5 Middle Ear The Air filled bony space behind the eardrum.  The main function of the middle ear is to amplify sound.  The middle ear connects to the back of the throat, the auditory openings when we yawn or swallow
6 Inner Ear The most complex component of the ear containing three main structures. It translates sound waves to nerve impulses for the brain.
7 Central Auditory System Processes the nerve impulses passed onto the brain. This is what makes you recognise Music, Speech etc. The central translation takes place here
8 Primal Auditory System This is the most complex unit of sound processing within the brain. The distinction is that of cell recognition to different sounds – consider it the aural interpreter of sound.
