Stanza Song. Occupy America, Poem Example

Pages: 1

Words: 221

Poem

It started September 17th in Zuccotti Park.

Americans of every color, faith, and creed

bonded together in a love for freedom and hope

and against forces of deception and greed.

No-one could have imagined the full scope

of what started that day in Zuccotti Park.

The richest people in the nation stole everything.

They made a culture of pollution, poverty, and perversion.

All over America, people raged against a broken system.

From their mansions, the powerful made war as a diversion

from their destruction of the American dream.

Our wealthy rulers stole everything they gained.

Protesters gathered in peace to demand justice.

Without guns of bombs, the movement spread.

Everyone watching on TV knew the moment had come.

The rich wanted the poor to beg for a crust of bread,

and left the elderly and veterans without job or home.

Americans gathered in peace to stand in mass.

Watching from anywhere in the United States

the “occupy” movement must touch your heart.

If you are rich and feel ashamed or horrified

it’s because you’ve failed to do your part

to keep America strong, while others tried.

From everywhere we’re rising to freedom’s gates.

Protest is the only thing left to save our nation.

They are the one-percent who rule the world.

We are the three-hundred million that the rich enslave.

They waste, steal, and murder. They are selfish and old.

It’s not only our lives, but our planet we must save.

Protest is the first step toward a new creation.

Time is precious

Time is precious

don’t waste it!
