Essay

Article Review

The evidence demonstrates that the Acheulian toolmakers migrated from Africa to the Asian continent. There have also been discoveries of Acheulian tools in India that date back 1.4 million years. In addition, the article discusses that Acheulian tools were discovered inIndia that dated back 120,000 years. This infers that the Acheulian tool makers inhabited India for more than 1.2 million years. The recent discoveries were achieved over the last twelve years by Shanti Pappu and Kumar Akhilesh, who are archaeologists representing the Sharma Centre forHeritage Education.

Potential Venues of Future Study

The information that would have been interesting to find are the other parts of the world, in addition to Africa and Asia where the Acheulian tools have been discovered. The other artifacts that have been found in the vicinity of the Acheulian tools would have been another interesting point of discussion. The location of the excavation of the Acheulian tools would have also have been more interesting to discover.

Were the tools discovered in fields of or in cave environments? In addition, any other fossils would have been interesting to review. Were the ancient Acheulian tool makers buried with their tools? Were the tools lost while they were being used? These would have been the themes that would have been interesting to review.

Australopithecus

Prehistoric hominids who measured 3.5 to 4.5 filet in stature. These prehistoric humans manifested long arms and short thumbs. These were the makers of the Acheulian tools that had been found at Attirampakkam.

Paranthropus

These were prehistoric hominids who measured 3.5 to 4.5 feet in stature. These prehistoric humans had long arms, with short thumbs in order to apply a powerful grip. These prehistoric hominids were also encountered at Dmanisi in Georgia.  These hominids had megadont teeth.

Rift Valley Olduvai Gorge

A paleontological site where Homo habilis, Homo erectus and Homo sapien fossilized remains have been found. This site is significant in demonstrating the social and developmental complexities in hominins.

Homo habilis

This genus was the final category of hominins fossils discovered in Africa. Homohabilis existed 2.5 million years ago. The fossils found from the genus Homo habilis had long legs and arms.

Archaic Homo sapiens

The genus of archaic Homo sapiens applied cognition in order to create fire. The fossils have been found in Asia, Africa and Europe. Branches of the Homo sapiens were the Steinheim and Atapuerca hominids. The bases of the craniums were catenary.

Homo erectus

These hominid fossils were discovered in Peking and Dmanisi.  The hominid fossil dated back to 1.8 million years. The Homo erectus hominid used the Acheulian axe. The Acheulian axes that were applied had the characteristics of bifacial axes. The Homo erectus hominids possess gently inclining foreheads. The Homo erectus hominids were able to apply their intelligence in order to create fire.

Ch?telperronian Technology

The AMH and the Homo neanderthalis applied the tools during the same era. The findings of the Acheulian tools at the Attirampakkam site suggest that the genus Homo erectus may have brought the Acheulian tool making technology over 800,000 years prior to the emergence of Homo heidelbergensis in Europe. The earliest findings of Homo heidelbergensis are presumed to be 600,000 years old.

Lithic technology

The lithic technology was disseminated to the different parts of Africa, Asia, Europe, Asia and China by the hominids. The Acheulian tools that included the bifacial axes were applied. The main area of the discovery of lithic technology is Southeastern Asia. The bifacial aspects of the Acheulian tools were used for quarrying and butchering.

La Ferrassie

This is the site of the discovery of the first intentional interment. The corpses were placed in the ground and the bones were well defined. The burial sites remained in good condition. These burial sites were where the genus Homo neanderthalis demonstrated sexual dimorphism. The findings have enabled the increased understanding of the   social and physical development of the genus Homo neanderthalis. This site contains the most complete fossilized remains of the genus Homo neanderthalis.

Paleoanthropology

This the segment of anthropology that addresses fossil hominids of the Acheulian toolmakers in India and the Homo heidelbergensis in Europe. The study that was conducted by Pappus and Akhilesh had been performed in order to increase the body of knowledge with regards to the social behaviors of the Australepithecus. Australepithecus is the genus that is mentioned in the article which fabricated the bifacial Acheuliantools.

Anatomically Modern Humans

Anatomically modern humans were evolved from the genus of Homo erectus. Homo erectus brought the tools into India more than one million years before the tools were developed by Homo heidelbergensis. The anatomically modern humans possessed DNA that caused them to be distinguished from the archaic Homo sapiens. Cannibalism is a protein that only the humans possess.
