Studies on Trait: How IQ Rate is developed
Personality and thinking skills are two very dependent elements that determine the brain capacity of each individual. Relatively, through time, it could be understood that somehow, commissioning genetics as the sole source of acquiring good IQ rate has become a problematic source of data-dependence. In this discussion, two studies are to be highlighted as part of the process of determining what makes IQ the subject of concern and how it is affected by the personality traits that individuals are noted for.
Background of Studies
What makes a person more capable of handling logical and rational thinking procedures take from two elements of development; one is IQ and the other is dependent on personality identification. In the study of De Zeeuw (et al, 2012), entitled Differential Brain Development with Low and High IQ in Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, cross referencing the worth of IQ and personality between each other and how they ought to be viewed as something more definite in determining the conditions of thinking process that individuals take into account. Another study to be considered is that of Aitken Harris’ (et al, 2004) Testing the differentiation of personality by intelligence hypothesis; which is an article that basically provides a definite form of indication on how personality affects IQ and vice versa.
Similarities
Both studies present a common trend of indication especially when it comes to making a definite sense of distinction on how personality affects IQ and how IQ affects the development of personality as well.
Hypothesis Testing
Relatively, the involvement of participants with the need to undergo a point of observation from the researchers was a common ground between the studies. Relatively, it could be realized that the common point of development between these researches is what makes them a common place especially in examining how IQ does relate with personality and human thinking process development.
Differences
The participants involved in the studies included groups from different age-ranges.
Participants
On the writing of De Zeeuw (et al, 2012), the participants included younger individuals while the work of Harris (et al, 2004) involved older individuals.
Methodologies
The procedures taken into account were also different in form especially that the younger individuals were subjected to undergoing structural MRI sessions; while the older participants were simply asked to answer a set of survey questions. These differences, although were specifically important elements that identify the backbone of the study, contribute to the overall condition of proving that personality does affect IQ and vice versa. Noticeably, it could be understood that the studies strongly define the consideration over the need to become more effective in creating a connection between human thinking procedures based on personality, attitude and the actual process by which IQ has been passed on through genetic provisions. With the good sense of evidences that prove the assumption of where high IQ rate comes from, these researches provide a strong insistence on how IQ may be genetically passed on to individuals, but honing such process of thinking would only be possible through implicating a better sense of determining good attitude towards improving it.
Conclusion Comparison and Reflection
What makes IQ an important part of human development is that it identifies the process by which a person thinks and how a person grows individually. It could be understood that from the references examined herein, IQ may be genetically passed on to individuals, however, it is the point of improving the way IQ is utilized as part of a person’s thinking pattern that matters most. For individuals who have developed particular personality issues, the process of improving IQ rates may be problematic as well. Nevertheless, this does not mean that better IQ rate cannot be acquired anymore. Simply changing one’s attitude does create a massive impact on how thinking process itself could be refurnished and the IQ rate to be increased as well.
