I am pleased to present this proposal for your review. In reading this to completion, I look forward to your decision in giving me permission to move forward with my educational research abroad. The purpose of this research proposal is to study abroad to advance and enrich my educational experience and career development. Without the approval from the decision makers, research that could be beneficial to my career development, as well as knowledge that would be gained on international policy will go on unfulfilled. In the business environment, several fields need to be studied using firsthand experience. In order to continue with further research in the business field, one must be able to gain international expertise and knowledge in dealing with global cultures, and organizations. The business environment is rapidly changing in part due to globalization, and many corporations that were once nationally based are expanding into international markets. This has provided an opportune time for students to be able to take advantage and a chance to experience other business environments.
The new trend in the research field is business students choosing to study abroad. This is due to a positive effect on an understanding of international policy, as well as becoming more aware of international current affairs. In receiving approval and the scholarship to further research, I will be capable of getting support from the institution in helping to acquire the knowledge, skills, and expertise in competing in the global market. Research has proven that students, primarily those that have majored in a business course tend to have a higher GPA and acquire global experience that makes them more competitive in the job market. More importantly studying abroad affords students with improved global perspective, and the capability to obtain essential skills to further career development.
Studying Abroad Research
Looking at the work from Burner and Iannarelli (2011), the authors provide a well-researched article in which they believe that students should be provided with the opportunities to receive the best global perspective in gaining international practices. Competition from foreign firms is increasingly growing, and students that major in the business field need to be able to compete with international students. It is normal for students that choose to study abroad to feel their experience has improved them in ways that open their minds, expand their awareness, and enhance their self-assurance. Albeit before concentrating on abroad it may be difficult to agree with these benefits, however, students are compelled to change their attitude significantly after they return. Particular regions of individual development reported by study abroad students incorporate the accompanying: the student’s view is extended, and allow for another viewpoint on the world that can’t be created in one’s nation of origin. The new relationships formed with individuals from an alternate culture are highly cherished.
Students that choose to study abroad, findfriendships they have made in other countries, persist long after they have left the country and lead them to form other friends with individuals with differing qualities. More importantly the experience builds observation of the society, lifestyle, values and convictions by acquainting them with more extensive viewpoint of how other individuals. The research from Isabella-Garcia (2008), found that studying abroad provides economic benefits, in which benefit not only the students, but also help to bring new ideas in assisting with national or foreign domestic economies. The research will provide an increase cultural interaction, as well as helping to benefit those that were impacted by the financial crisis. More necessarily in looking to further research within the business field, Toncar, Reid, and Anderson (2006) conducted independent research that found that students that study abroad, in the business field were more likely to graduate on time, and have better job prospects in the future. Business majors, can study better, pay attention to the financial problems, and have more knowledge to practical solutions towards financial affairs. The business area is one of the most essential factors of the economy, and understanding the underlying components of a policy nationally and abroad is pertinent in the continued success of the free market. Studies and research conducted with first-hand knowledge are more successful in gaining careers, and benefiting others in the international environment.
There are several benefits that are mentioned above in which help in supporting the proposal to study abroad, as well as hoping to gain the much-needed approval.
The benefits are:
- Increased knowledge of the global market
- Better results on formulating experimental studies
- The understanding of international policies and affairs, as well as
- First-hand knowledge that is needed to compete in the global job market,
- Better GPA, References, and Opportunity to pave a lucrative career path.
With the approval to go forward in this research, studying abroad will provide a positive and enriching experience that will be beneficial to all parties involved, as well as further the capacity to conduct research on improving domestic economies, crafting out solutions in dealing with, and possibly preventing another international financial crisis.
