Success in Human Services, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 299

Essay

The key to having a successful career in human services will be acquiring my degree, working my internship which will allow me to gain practical experience on the job and working with people. I plan to give efficient and effective service to all people utilizing resources available such as case managers, administrative workers and volunteer citizens.

My job will be to provide people with a better quality of life and to do this I will help them in different array of ways such as investigating if they are eligible for benefits, providing transportation and monitoring their case records closely. Success in this occupation comes from caring enough to want to help and staying on top of each person’s file until they receive what they came to me for which is assistance or help with a particular need in mind.

I plan to watch very closely how others help during my internship so that I can learn their style of helping. I may not take every style and use it but I can incorporate different ways of helping into my individual helping style. Internship provides a person with the tools necessary to do hands on training aside from classroom training which is real world training.

I plan to keep a very motivated outlook, compassionate heart and positive drive towards helping others. I will not discriminate against anyone and will do my best to make sure everyone that comes to me for help is serviced in a timely fashion. In the social helping field the key to success are motivation, compassion and empathy and having the ability to use the available resources. Sometimes a worker must go the extra mile to ensure a person’s needs are met and I plan to do just that.
