Suffer From Obesity, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 263

Essay

While there are many problems in the world (e.g. poverty, mortality rate, starvation) this essay will focus on obesity. In the growing population of the world (numbers are around 6.3 billion) about 7% of that number suffer from obesity. Of this percentage about 66% of American adults suffer from obesity. There are sundry reasons why obesity has become a growing problem over the world, as well as in first world countries. Some of these reasons include hereditary, diet, overlying health problems. Obesity can also cause other health-risk factors such as gallbladder disease, diabetes, hypertension, cancer, reduced life expectancy or even heart disease. Subsequent factors are also involved with health risks such as psychological problems, self-confidence problems, and discrimination. The world health organization is trying to find direct causes as well as ways to ameliorate obesity in the world. The focus of this paper will be to explore the causes of obesity in the world with a focus on the United States (including all ethnicities and gender – meaning that focus is centered solely on the country’s statistics overall), how to curtail effects of obesity (through caloric associated focuses and research), and the overall deleterious effect of obesity due to the various health related risks associated with the condition. The final section of the paper will apply current research programs that seek to curtail obesity and ways in which such a health risk can be eliminated from the world’s population, especially as it relates to the United States population. This paper will seek to prove that beyond thyroid problems, obesity is a curable disease.
