Teaching Grammar in the Second Language Classrooms

Statement of problem

The present study on teaching grammar in second language classroom, a seesaw exists with regard to second language education in consideration of strictly grammatical as well as strictly communicative aspects. The role of grammar in language studies cannot be neglected.

Research questions

• Is there any alternative to the methodologies of teaching exclusive second language for Saudi teachers?
• Can successful process of learning language for Saudi teachers be confined to a definite approach or methodology?

Research instruments

Questionnaire, interviews  Rating Scale and  Schedule shall be used as research tools in order to collect sufficient data.

Reflective teaching pedagogy as an inventive approach in education through open as well as distance learning

Reflective teaching has a link to inquiry together with unremitting professional growth and it is resourceful in professional development in all levels of academics

• How reflective teaching methodology helps mentor Saudi teachers in developing their professionalism?
• Does reflective teaching approach address the intended objectives of a topic that is learnt in distance learning by Saudi teachers?
• Does reflective teaching extend an inquiry urge among Saudi teachers?

Research instruments

Questionnaire, interviews and Rating Scale are the applicable tools to be used to identify relationship of reflective teaching methodology to professional training

Speaking Spoken Language instructions as a a task-based approach

Statement of problem

Language primarily in the present study in Speaking Spoken Language involves application of meaning coupled with some tasks as central unit in planning as well as instructions in teaching language.

Research questions

• Does grammar and vocabulary affect the likelihood of learners of being distracted from a task and be preoccupied in the detection as well as and correcting mistakes including the use of dictionaries as grammar reference?
•  Are there any effective frameworks in composing a task-based learning lesson for Saudi teachers?

Research instruments

Appropriate tools of research shall involve the use of Questionnaire, Checklist and Score-card.
