There is a great deal of pressure on military personnel to succeed and uphold the traditions of their service. When one military member takes their own life, it can devastate the entire unit. It is essential for those coping with suicide in the military to know that they are not alone and that help is available. Resources are available within and outside the military chain of command, and anyone who needs assistance should reach out for help. Suicide is a severe issue, and anyone struggling with it should seek help from a professional.

Suicide rates in the military are rising, and researchers are still trying to figure out why. In this video, I’ll talk about some factors contributing to this increase and how you can help if you’re concerned about someone in the military. A new medium of presentation for suicide in the military

The official military website of the United States published an article discussing a new medium for suicidal behavior in the armed forces – cyberbullying. According to this piece, as more and more soldiers are using electronic devices to communicate, they may be at an increased risk of developing thoughts about suicide when faced with online harassment or humiliation.

This is a timely article, as recent reports have shown that there has been an increase in suicides among active-duty servicemen and women. In 2017, the military suicide rate was 20 per 100,000 people – a 2% increase from 2016. These numbers are concerning, as they indicate that there may be an increased risk for suicide among servicemen and women due to exposure to cyberbullying. While cyberbullying is not solely responsible for suicides among military personnel, it is an essential factor that should be considered when trying to prevent such tragedies. Educating service members and women about the dangers of cyberbullying and suicide can create a safe environment where servicemen and women can thrive.
