Pages: 1

Words: 271

Essay

The senior in this story reflected on his life as a young person/man. He spoke about his parents, family he created after becoming an adult and how his career influenced the life story. From the account his passion for living was his career in business. He indicated how much family values he implemented in his own life, which was responsible for his successes. Also, much of the inconsistencies in his life were attributed to friends and the sudden turns in life when sickness death unexpected events occur, which seems to change a person’s life course.

He reflected on the pleasures of a family life both when he was a child and after having children of his own. The senior recounted on how pleasurable children are within the family when reflecting at 90 years of age. Now he enjoys the hugs and kisses of his children, grandchildren and great grand children who keep the youth alive in his senior years.

In summarizing this senor’s life story from a literary perspective and evaluating the elements consistent with a true life story; it can be concluded this was a coherent account of his life experiences and selfhood. Importantly, the senior explained how life encounters shaped his selfhood as he went through some devastating situations in his life course. Biological reasoning was evident in the reflection/story telling episodes. While other persons such as wife, daughter, parents influenced the life course they were not allowed in as the focus of the story. Instead they were included as references enhancing the account. By continually using the pronoun ‘I’ the senior kept the discssuion alive with the focus on selfhood.
