Patient Centered Care

The patient-centered care recognizes that medical practitioners, parents, and guardians should collaborate with providers in the decision-making process. The approach is based on the increased recognition on the importance of meeting development and psychosocial needs of the children and fostering the role of the patient’s family in increasing the health and well-being of the patient.

Two Articles

The patient-centered care has gained significant influence in the medical industry in the recent past. According to Hughes (2011), some of the local and national efforts geared towards improving health care are the aspects of family-oriented care. The article asserts that, family and patient oriented care is a form of quality in which care is customized and individualized to families and patients. In Lynette & Hinds (2013) journal, patient-centered care should investigate the problems of the patients, and improve the education of the nurses. The underlying results provide a reliable stratem in the medication process. In fact, patient-centered care is quality of personal, organization, and professional setting.

The Synthesis

Based on the approach of these two journals, one will notice the recent impetus of health as a social concern and not entirely a medical concern. Indeed, for a patient to recover, psychosocial factors have to be considered (Hughes, 2011). The recovering patient is welcomed in the society, and psychology factors play a crucial role in encouraging the patient. Indeed, the two articles are based on Peplau theory of interpersonal relationships. One of the major concepts of Peplau’s theory is that, nursing involve interaction between two or more individuals with a common goal – healing. The above two articles strongly recommend that, 21st century medical centers should adopt patient-centered care for its integral in communication and interaction.

Differences between summarizing and synthesizing research

The above research is based on synthesized research approach. This approach differs from the summarizing research approach, in that, synthesize elaborates further by combining ideas. In fact, a synthesized research offers broad perspectives, insights, and understanding by reflecting on the text and merging elements together (Lynette & Hinds, 2013). This differs from summarized research, which provides detailed accounts on a given article without borrowing from a similar article.
