Targeting Effectively, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 330

Essay

One of the biggest challenges faced in advertising and marketing is targeting effectively. The only way a business can successfully advertise is by properly analyzing their target market. This is done by identifying the various demographics in your area of operation and figuring out which demographics should you advertise too. An example of this is car insurance. You can typically see various advertisements for car insurance companies on TV and on billboards. Esurance, an insurance company, needs to figure out which demographics are most susceptible to advertising and have the need for car insurance. They will advertise in TV slots whose viewership are primarily young adults because that demographic is most likely in need of car insurance and will make their decision based on a commercial. This can be difficult at times because companies need to develop behavior-based profiles. The problem stems from the fact that people change their behavior all the time and societies preferences can evolve over night. So companies must continually adapt their marketing and advertising strategies.

Universal morality is based upon the belief that every individual shares a set of morals and ethics regardless of difference in culture, sex, religion, and nationality. A modern day organization which uses this belief is the United Nations. They put in place universal laws based around a believed universal denial of horrible crimes, no matter where they are committed. Relative morality however believes the opposite in the sense that moral beliefs stem from the cultures in which the individuals reside in. An simple example of this is the business world is the difference in cultures and preferences between America and other countries. When an American business person travels to Saudi Arabia, he is expected to abide by their rules and customs. Sometimes a woman might be asked to cover up some of her body in order to adapt to Saudi Arabia’s moral standards. Although an American may view this as wrong and/or oppressive, we will abide by it out of respect.
