Tattoos and Employment, Research Paper Example

Pages: 1

Words: 274

Research Paper

The world and its perceptions on certain matters of social concern changes; and so far, when it comes to the reputation of tattoos and its correlation with the emergence of individuals entering the corporate world. For instance, back in the days, individuals with tattoos are segregated, at times even discriminated during the screening and hiring process of companies. This is especially true when it comes to people entering the administrative positions; back in the days, individuals who are hired for the higher positions ought not to have body tattoos no matter how big or small the tattoos are.

It could be understood that the stereotyping considerations that has been given to individuals with tattoos on the past has been lost especially during these times of development. Relatively, as the perception on inclusion and tolerance changes, the concept of accepting such matters about new age employees also change. This adjustment could be considered an evident progress on the social distinction of equality among employees coming from different backgrounds and different lifestyles. Tattoos no longer identify with the reputation of having a disturbed attitude. Instead, it is now the skills, experience and the willful efforts of the employees that are recognized as major elements to employment success than is that of the physical appearance of the individual.

Practically, the article by Rachelle Hennessey is one proof that when it comes to tattoos, the world of business now takes a new and better perspective of the people and not of how they look. Instead of being a mark, the status of tattoos as a mere form of art becomes evidently affective on the process of hiring among large corporations.
