Tacit knowledge

Tacit knowledge is a category of knowledge defined as a non-numerical and non-linguistic body of knowledge that is context specific; highly personal and deeply rooted in individual emotions, values, ideas, and experiences(Tsoukas124). The works of Leonardo exemplify this in the era of court technologies (Misa7) some of the Leonardo’s “technological dreams”-imaginative projects that were beyond realm of technical possibility was a human-powered wheel (Misa 7). Technology transfer may be hindered by such knowledge as it remains within an individual however; the creations of imaginations just like those of Leonardo helped in advancement of technology. Examples of such knowledge are Intuition and imaginations.

Technology transfer

Technology transfer is the process by which scientific findings are shared between different organization in order to facilitate development and commercialization. The Dutch exemplified the link between technology and trade in the early days. “The emergence of specialized ships in Netherlands was an early signal that the Dutch understood how to bring technology and trade together in pursuit of commerce” (Misa37).Technology is developed in one place but be used or applied in another place for the same purpose. Example of technology is the use of smart cards and mobile money transfer to transact which improves efficiency in doing business.

Prince practitioner

PRINCE is an acronym for ‘projects in controlled environments’. It was first developed and used in the United Kingdom to effectively manage projects but has found its way to many parts of the world. Prince practitioner refers to an international accreditation given to an individual having passed a practitioner examination. The accreditation offers the best practice guidance in project management. Leonardo demonstrated this systematic handling of issues. “We must consult experience in variety of cases and circumstances until we draw a general rule in them” (Mason, 111).PRINCE allows for the standardization of best practice around the globe and hence triggered faster transfer of technology. It is highly applicable to the real life situations and cuts across all spheres of life full of projects.

Porter beer

Porter beer is traced back to 1722 in London first manufactured by Ralph Harwood with its original name being ‘Entire’ a blend of three separate beers namely; Beer, Ale and strong Beer mixed in the equal ratio of one third. It was observed that “Beer brewing affords a revealing window into industrial London” also porter deserves full recognition as industrial-age product”(Misa,66) The crafting of this kind of beer was fundamental in the turning point of beer crafting technology which is hinged on porter crafting to date. The technology of beer grafting spread from London to other parts of the world.

Imperial supplies

Imperial supplies is a company that stocks and supplies fleet specific maintenance repair parts. The system of work adopted by the company is to supply quality maintenance parts in an effective and efficient manner which are geared towards, vehicle durability and cost control by theclients. The supplies has helped in technology transfer as the act of assembling and supplies of parts allows for the standard manufacturing of parts and even improvement of manufacturing technologies. Example of positive impact on technology advancement is when a customer communicates about the concern in quality of parts; the company sends the message to manufacturers to improve technology.
