Introduction
Human beings try to improve life through invention and innovation. This involves coming up with methods of making work easier as well as improving sustainability through technology. Technology is coming up with new ideas or finding an alternative in performing some work in a good, efficient, and easy way. It is important to consider that technology has both disadvantages and advantages to the society (Kent, 2009). Therefore, there is need for carrying out a proper analysis before introducing technology. Technology of humility is that which the society shapes and accepts it. It gradually wins the approval of the society because of consideration of factors in coming up with it. Technology of hubris is that which is not well framed, understood, and approved by the society. A company that uses such a technology spends many resources in marketing the product of the technology.
The internet
Framing
Internet is widely used in the world for various purposes. It is mainly used for communication. It has made communication easy and efficient. Personal communications can be done through emails and social communications done on social sites. However, the technology is not perfect as there are essential elements left out (Kent, 2009). These are security and ethics. Many organizations and people use the internet to operate daily activities. The problem of security undermines the use of internet for these purposes. There is no proper regulation mechanism to control the information on the internet. Some people post unethical information in social sites.
Vulnerability
The internet, though beneficial, has posed certain challenges to human kind. It has become the world standard communication medium. Everybody is forced to use the mode of communication and handling data despite the challenges that come along. For example, banking institutions use internet, but hackers can use this to get financial information of customers. As a result, a stranger can mysteriously access an individual’s bank account (Bakardjieva, 2005). Secondly, custodians of regulation and ethics such as parents and the government have found it difficult to control information that goes around the internet. For instance, the internet enables children to acquire irresponsible conducts from the internet. Service providers also use the internet to manipulate users. Service providers charge high rates for offering internet services. Lastly, the technology has resulted to use of gadgets that transmit harmful rays to the environment. The rays affect life in the environment.
Distribution
The initiators of the internet technology should adjust some elements in the use of internet. First, a central regulatory mechanism that controls the internet in order to uphold ethics should be stipulated. Secondly, the concerned professionals should work on proper security measures to develop trust in users (Kent, 2009). The gadgets used to access internet services should be environmentally friendly. This would ensure that they do not cause environmental pollution. Children should be restricted from accessing some websites.
Learning
Internet technology is very effective. The technology has been successful as far as societal acceptance is concerned. However, it is still not perfect. The concerned professionals can use the loopholes that had been identified to improve the technology (Bakardjieva, 2005). The first problem is security. Scientists should work on how to improve confidentiality of information from the internet. Secondly, there should be introduction of gadgets that allow for easy access of internet services in order to save users from manipulation by service providers. However, there are barriers to implementing these observations. The main barrier is lack of proper technology to handle the problems.
