Technology as a Measure of Progress, Essay Example

Introduction

Technology has been a measure of progress because it has influenced every area of human operation. Today, almost every one depends on technology that has been developed by other people. Technology has really advanced over the years and as it advanced, it has in turn cause progress in the life of humans. Technology has brought progress on the way we leave, for example, the way we purchase things, our communications, the way we learn, the way we travel and other things that humans do has been transformed by the advancement of technology. Since there are laws increase in demand by the way people leave, the pressure is also on technology advancement since the inventors have the pressure to cop up with humans changes and therefore causing progress in humans. Therefore, technology as a measure of progress has transformed the entire life of humans and has cause change and development in every sector of human engagements.

Technology has brought progress in business and organizations. The advancement of technology has brought immense change in the way business and organization have been carrying their operations. First, advanced technology has save time and cost of operation within business and organizations (Shawbuck 356). This has given an opportunity to small business because they have the advantage to grow and compete with other businesses and organizations. For example, small businesses have adopted the 3G / 4G broadband for use in reaching their clients faster in low costs. On the same argument, technology has cause drastic progress in medical and health care. The medical and health care have improved and hence forth, many lives have been saved through technology advancement in hospitals (Smith 331).

Technology as a measure of progress has caused improvements in communication. Communication is one of the fundamental aspects in human lives and businesses. However, over the years communication technology has undergone a revolution in that the communication gadgets that were used in 1995 are irrelevant today (Withgott and Brennan 277). The revolution has caused communication to be even better and efficient. Today a person can communicate with a loved using Ipads as they view each other using an app called Skype and other new methods of communication. This has fastened relationships because people can communicate very easily and faster. Distance is no longer matter as technology is concerned because two people can communicate even if one is in different country or nation  (Mann 390).

Technology has also been a measure of progress in agriculture and education fields. For instance, technology has changed the face of agriculture through the introduction of modern crops and machines. This has resulted in more production and supply in agricultural sector. In developing countries, during the time of drought, the farmers could look for ways of irrigation to water their plants and in some cases the crops dried up, but in already developed countries, technology has brought progress in that there are advanced sprinklers that farmers use in times of drought. In education sector, it is the same case whereby technology has enhanced methods of learning. Technology has simplified learning methods since teachers can reach their students through emails and other sites. In addition, students can learn anywhere as long as they are closer to a computer, mobile or tablet (Shawbuck 356).

Therefore, technology is the measure of progress to human race. It has made life easier and it has simplified human operation and making life to be better and interesting. Today, in developed countries, people cannot conduct their daily operations without technology. With the progress that comes with modern technology, many people have found employment and they can take care of their family and personal responsibilities. All these are the progress that technology has caused.
