The use of telemedicine as a technology in health care involves application of telecommunication technologies to provide regular services of health care. The implementation of this technology has yielded an innovative perspective in monitoring patients. The physician is empowered by this technology to access the life of the patient even with the absence of regular visits to the health care facility by the patient. Additionally, it has also been possible for the health care experts to have a direct connection to the patients prior to seeking of medical health and therefore unnecessary cases of hospitalization have been avoided (Bangert & Doktor, 2005).

Telemedicine has gained popularity as technology improves and it has offered a good avenue of preventing disease than in curing disease. Even with a situation that the patient is unable to make a physical visit to the health care institution, the medical expert can give instructions to the patient. The information given is vital in protecting the health of the patients and therefore, chances of getting to the curative stage in boring hospitals are greatly minimized (Institute of Medicine, 2000).

Consequently, the contribution of telemedicine in health care has resulted to saving of resources through addressing the medical needs of the patients with a high degree of satisfaction. The patients do not need to take any hospital space and congestions in emergency rooms are avoided (Institute of Medicine, 2000). Due to the efficiency of this method, people are able to save money which can be invested in other medical issues which in turn improves disease preventing and avoids any situation of than in curing the disease. Therefore, the use of telemedicine technology has played a significant role in preventing disease than in curing disease.
