Essay

Cults are notable groups that exist for a supposed religious cause. However, unlike other religions, these groups often bring about the need to follow particular rituals. The manner of developing belief among the members of the group is handled through strong psychological power of persuasion. Often times, because of the determination of the members to please the god/s of the cult, they agree to doing almost the most contradicting factors that identify differently with the clauses of human rights. Believing that there is someone more superior who asks them to follow the rules, they feel that such operations and actions are necessary. This is what was evidently true in the eyes of the Mayan group. The role taken by Popol Vuh as the one to have been given the power by the kings to rule, is significant enough to how people envision the role of someone who says that they were ‘chosen’ by the god/s and how they should be viewed by those living under their care.

Cults at present continue to exist under the same rule of specifically giving full attention and devotion to the rules and principles set up by their leader. No matter how evidently true the position of these cults are,  like it is in history, they continue to invite more members into their control thus affecting a huge number of individuals in the society. Being specifically strong in approach especially in identifying their role in changing the options of history and how human rights is viewed, most cults spurring out in the communities today are sourced out from the personal motivation of the leaders along with their personal interpretation about the supreme being who they might say have a great impact on how they rule their groups like that of the accounts noted in Chavin’s lesson of the past which specifically identifies with the current situation of several cults in the Amazon.
