Ten (10) Year Reunion, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 584

Essay

Everyone it is great to see you again. It is now our ten year reunion and many of us have moved forward and become very successful with careers and magnificent families. I would like to introduce myself to you all again (name here). I may have changed yet I am still the same person. I am married to a wonderful man (name here) and have two twin girls age six (names here). My family is the most important asset that I possess. My husband and I have been married for eight years and my two wonderful twins keep my life very busy and full.

As far as my career, I have worked very diligently to become a successful attorney at Hakes and Schlumberger, LLC. I recently made partner this year. I attended Columbia University Law School and graduated with honors two years ago hence my career is fairly new. My undergraduate studies were completed in Legal Studies from the University of New York at Buffalo. I vehemently enjoy the personal injury law work I am in charge of at the firm.

My interest in the field of law was formed through many different activities that transpired in my life and the life of my parents. When I was a child of only the age of two my parents immigrated from Moldova to the United States. This was a very difficult and emotional task for them. My parents were forever grateful for the very hard working and compassionate lawyer who helped them to achieve their United States citizenship. Citizenship gave my parents the opportunity to provide a good life for me. Hearing the story about how my parents immigrated and eventually became citizens helped to peak my interest in the field of law at about the age of twelve. My mother worked for a law firm during her career. She used to bring me to work with her on occasion which also added to the desire I had to study the law. I remember feeling astonished at the vastness of the people in the law office and the large buildings.

One of the lawyers in the building explained to me how they support fairness and justice to all and how they help to shape the government and laws that bound us. This lawyer possessed great focus and integrity and that was very admirable to me as a young and upcoming scholar. It was at this point I vehemently desired to become a lawyer and kept my focus through my studies in junior high and high school. I knew I had to maintain a very high grade point average and keep focused on my studies to build my career path.

Despite having a full-time career and full responsibilities with my husband and children I find time to conduct volunteer work for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Jewish Relief Agency. This volunteer work provides a personal sense of accomplishment for me. My parents were Jewish and the Jewish Relief Agency provides a great way for me to contribute to other Jews needs and helps me to stay in touch with my born roots. I strongly believe in contributing to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society because I am friends with some people who have been sadly struck by the disease.

As you can see I lead a very positive and busy life. I feel my contributions to society are strong and my career and family have been at the top of my list. Their successes are attributed to my rising success.
