Essay

E-health is a product of the Age of Technology within healthcare that called for the use of technology tools and information services as a means to convey information and date through innovative communication technologies, which are often referred to as ICTs, that have the potential to amplify the diagnosis, management, treatment, supervision, and prevention when delivering optimal healthcare services. DNP leaders are thus have a duty within the healthcare system to streamline and integrate constantly evolving technology within nursing infomatics as well as incorporating other innovative technologies that can enhance the health of the community as a whole (Shuffitt & Effkin, 2012). DNP leaders can take a formative role in healthcare leadership due to the fact that e-health has imbued currency in web-based nursing interventions as a means of reducing healthcare costs while also enhancing health outcomes related to debilitating illnesses such as diabetes or pain management after heart surgery that have hitherto profoundly burdened patients in a litany of manners.

Indeed, nurse practitioners face a litany of challenges on a daily basis regarding how to procure and use reliable and credible information to validate their decision-making in clinical setting and meet particular expectations for evidence-based nursing practices and outcomes. Information services that provide health information via cyberspace have recently become optimal and practical venues for nurses to implement web-based interventions for their patients (Miller et al., 2010). The corpus of literature on this burgeoning topic regarding interventions implemented for surgical patients have spawned mixed results regarding the management of acute pain in the aftermath of major surgery. Web-based interventions are critical tools in their nascent phase that DNPs can use in order to minimize healthcare costs and treat diverse populations (Krebs et al., 2010). Ultimately, DNPs can ue the widened definition of infomatics within the e-health perspective in order to provide interactive health technologies that patients can easily gain access to while also providing effective educational lessons.
