Essay

It is has been proven beyond reasonable doubt that any human being always feels good when he or she does something enjoyable. These actions are always known to us as hobbies, a hobby is a recreational activity a person involves himself into for the sole purpose of retrieving pleasure and relaxation from. Many people enjoy their hobbies when they are away from the hustles and bustles of life, this is the time when people take their free time to relax.

Watching fish swim harmoniously in a healthy and well kept habitat has always been my wish; this gave me the idea of having a fresh water fish aquarium at my house. I decided to pursue this venture as my hobby because nothing in the entire world gives me pleasure like watching these wonderful creatures swim around an aquarium that offers a healthy habitat for them. Keeping fish as a hobby came into the limelight in 1856 after Emil Robmaber wrote an assay about the sea in the glass, from this essay I was able to learn that fish rearing comes with so many challenges. First off, one has to specifically know the correct size of the desired aquarium. Different fish species require different types of aquarium in relation to size and weight and length. The size of the aquarium must be defined by the number of fish one expects to rear, for two or three fish, an aquarium that is able to hold four to five liters of water should be appropriate. However, when one wishes to rear a school of fish, a big aquarium would be advisable.

Before getting myself into rearing fish in an aquarium, I had to consult and read many books and articles concerning aquatic life. This gave me a sober mind before I made the decision of owning an aquarium of my own. With enough space in our apartment, I decided to build an aquarium that was able to accommodate a good number of fish. My aquarium is long and wide, which gives the fish enough room for swimming.

With enough information about fresh fish aquarium, time had come for me to set up my own aquarium. I had a nudging urge of seeing the fish in my aquarium swim in either directions of the aquarium with my bare eyes. With a three door fish tank, I am able to keep different kinds of fish species; one part of the tank has fidder fish and Piranhas while the other side has Oscars, knife fish and cichlids. I get so much pleasure when I watch in amazement these creatures interact and swim so harmoniously my heart always feels at peace when I see this marvelous God’s creation.

After I am through with my daily activities, my best destination is always my aquarium, I usually make sure that the fish are well fed and the water is at the right temperature. It is my duty to ensure that the aquarium water is cycled so that the lives of the fish inside can be sustained. It is important to understand that God gave fish to mankind not only as a source of food, but as a way of showing appreciation to him by taking good care of them.

It is my wish that my friends embrace this noble venture as a hobby, it is very important to keep a fresh water fish aquarium and tend to it during your free time. This will be very beneficial to you in that the task is not very demanding so you can take it as a hobby. I have done it and I love it since it’s the simplest way of keeping fish pet in the house.

Keeping an aquarium should not be misunderstood to mean additional work since the advantages that comes with it outweighs its disadvantages by far. It is very enjoyable since the movement of fish in the aquarium is very pleasing and relaxing to the mind. You will find a good way to pass time and have fun away from work by totally relaxing your mind as you have fun with fish. There are many ways of doing it and people keep fish in aquariums for many varied reasons. First off, having fish in the house is so natural in that it kind of brings nature into the house. It’s actually a good feeling that I wouldn’t like a good friend of mine like you to miss on.

The fresh water aquarium will also serve you as source of knowledge; as a matter of fact it is an educational tool.  You will be able to observe and study the life of fish by yourself and then appreciate the beauty which comes with it. The knowledge acquired this way is very indispensable since it will help you understand the nature of life in water and teach you the essence of taking care of the environment. In so doing you will be learning new things in your own free time without any pressure of whichever kind because you will just be by yourself and the fish appreciating the beauty of nature.

Perhaps you are wondering why I still haven’t mentioned the financial aspects of it but I would like to inform you that it is very cheap to start up and you may start with any number of fish depending on what you want and the amount of money you want to put into it.  You can even decide to express your love for fish  and have your own fish pond in the future if you wish.

Taking care of fish is very easy compared to say taking care of a cat or dog. You don’t have to necessarily sit there and watch it feed like the case of a cat in fact all you need is to ensure that it has food and there is a good supply of clean water. When you are going to be away on vacation you can easily tell someone to help you take care of the fish because the task is not that taxing and anyone can do it without any special training. Research has also proven that home fish aquariums have very many advantages health wise. As a matter of fact, watching fish in aquariums not only lowers the blood pressure but also reduces stress. Therefore you should take keeping a fresh water fish aquarium in your house as hobby because the benefits that will accrue with it are just unbelievably many.
