“The Age of the Unthinkable”, national best seller book is one of the best work of written by Joshua Cooper Ramo. Ramo is a managing director at Kissinger’s company. It has been seen after reviewing the content of the book is bit in conflict with the philosophy of his boss. The author has made effort to make a better understanding about the new global order. The whole book contains It basically explains the meaning of freedom and its existence. This book contains the quality of highly anecdotal, interesting insights and easy to read. The most important and noteworthy discussion has been carried out in order to point out some significant points discussed in the book.

“The age of Unthinkable” explores different strategies of taking initiatives in this global age. Ramo explains his point of view about the global order with the help of illustrating different interesting stories. He specifically strike down throughout his book the power and tendency of Western countries to make their focus on specific goals rather than taking a empathetic view and holistic view of warfare. According to the author, the Western militants can also use the example of consequences of the fall of Baghdad. The most interesting and the best examples stated in the book are taken from the lessons of the Israel while tackling Hizb’allah. The author describes this experience of Israel as resilient to straight attacks and necessity of time (Ramo, 2009).

The author, Ramo also emphasis the importance of indirect approach in much detail. He believes on an idea of dealing situations with holistic approach rather than direct attacks. According to the book, direct attacks can never impart effective results as compare to effect based operations.

Looking at the world holistically is the main theme of this book. Furthermore, the author also expresses the need of having a strong security idea. It should be based on the idea of focusing our own buoyancy rather than attacking on everything which causes scare (Ramo, 2009).

Ramo also includes some effective financial advices for American citizens. In his book, “age of Unthinkable”, he has emphasized on the fact that the emperors of this age are deviated from the old national hemorrhage. The book directs the Americans to make themselves financially strong on the basis of old financial values (Ramo, 2009).

The book is considered to be a fascinating work which can be contributive to map out the paths of success for the new and future generations of leaders. The book directs the leaders of America to review course in the world. The navigational skill of Ramo will surely change the perspectives of  leader of dealing with the global affairs (Ramo, 2009). The book is really good and informative for new and old readers, who hold the interest in the domain.

The book contains tangible and worthy recommendations which can be very much helpful and supportive to draw an action plan in the present global order. Some of the most significant points are illustrated in the book such as the importance of strengthening resilience, importance of dealing with holistic approach, negative aspects of direct attacks, effective financial recommendations and the tactics of effect based operations. Making all these points clear, the author has taken the support of some global examples such as the experiences of Israel dealing with Arab militant wing Hizbuallah.
