The Anne Frank Diaries, Research Paper Example

Anne Frank, born as Annelies Frank, grew up in Amsterdam but was born in Weimar, Germany. Her family left Germany because of the Nazis and her family was Jewish (History.com). Since Hitler was against the Jews, the Frank family went to Amsterdam where they stayed. When she was a kid she started writing a diary talking about her life and how they had to hide (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum).

She talked about her family, grandmother’s death and how hard it was to live while hiding. Living in a family’s attic to hide from the Nazi’s, Anne Frank kept writing her diary. Later it would be looked at by many and came to be a symbol of struggles, discrimination and what happened during the Holocaust. It spoke of how the Jewish people suffered and how it affected them. Anne and the rest of her family were finally found by the Nazi’s and sent to a concentration camp in Holland. They later were separated and her and her sister were sent to a death camp. They caught a disease there and died from it.

Because of Adolph Hitler’s power, the Jewish people were punished and suffered a great deal (Lee 4). They were in constant fear of either being sent to a Nazi work camp or worse, a death camp. This caused them to go into hiding and they even had trouble getting food and taking care of their families. The way she grew up and how she suffered caused her to write her diary (Wolf 10). It talked about how she thought the German people were vile and it shows how much her family suffered because of it. It influenced her writing greatly and caused her to give others a way to see how she lived and what her family had to go through.
