Essay

The soldaderas are women soldiers who used to live ordinary lives but chose to take arms for the sake of fighting for freedom. It could be analyzed that their involvement in the war years and the revolutionary operations of the country has created a big difference on how the said era turned out to be. What made their role important is that they served not only as armed individuals but as nurses, mothers and servers as well. They served as the heart of the revolution giving inspiration to men as they push forward for the right of being free in their own country.

The soldaderas were prominent in the Mexican history especially that they were able to instantiate a sense of urgency on how the desired freedom could be acquired. This is especially through the process by which the soldaderas realized the need to break out from the Diaz regime and create possible movements that would free them and their people from all the controlling hands of the dictator. The role of the soldaderas marked so much of the Mexican history as they fought towards the freedom that they are now able to experience. Marking the role of women in the course of changing the Mexican history actually allowed for the chance of developing the perception of the society with regards the capacity of women to define their being and establish their identity in a community that fully recognizes the liberalization of men. Apart from the traditional women, the soldaderas proved that there is more to femininity than serving the family and protecting the home; and that such role that they played impacted the overall being of the Mexican community then and even now. True, there is no excuse that the women established stand for the sake of protecting their freedom and their people.
