The CSEC in New York City, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 266

Essay

In the CSEC in New York City research executive summary, Curtis and colleagues (2008) asserted that programs were offered to victims which were showing positive signs especially under the prevention of CSEC, Coalition to Address Sexual Exploitation of Children (CASEC) had a contract with local service providers for three months prevention session with female victims and staff at many group homes, in charged by New York City’s Administration for children Services (ACS). Peer training initiative was organized, the female youth coped well and some were even selected to lead future sessions with the staff, the program was evaluated and received positive ratings with its progress, and unfortunately the program couldn’t continue as it didn’t get any more funding after the initial pilot funding. So with this type of situation I blame the system as the agencies knows at least what works to avert future homelessness of our youth which leads to sexual exploitation, although it cannot be perfect.

The system’s failure is not about what to do but rather how to do it and how to fund it, I wonder why there are some programs for child maltreatment that are being funded and still we face youth sexual exploitations and I suggest that officials/agencies in charge should relocate the funds to programs that are tried before and showed positive signs like the one in New York City (Curtis et al., 2008).
