The Day I Found My Birthmother, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 252

Essay

After being apart for so many years (18 years to be exact), I longed to find my birthmother. First, I attempted to find my mother only knowing her first name and having nothing more to go on. I gave a try to the birthmother locater website but was not successful in either finding her or getting any helpful information whatsoever. Desperate, I was just about to give up looking for her. At that moment, my adopted mother called me and said that now that my sister and brother were 19 and 18 years of age, she would give us our birthmother’s address that she had along. She had left it up for us in case we wanted to write to her; she had said she would understand if we wrote to her and would not feel badly about it. With this in mind, I spent a few days pondering; I wasn’t sure whether I would have the courage to write a letter. Finally, I wrote to her. I waited for about a week for a reply, afraid she didn’t want to hear form me. When I got a letter from her, I was overjoyed. In her letter she said she had been trying for years to find us but had been told she would get into trouble if she kept trying because at that time my sister and brother were still under age. However, my adopted mother and birthmother exchanged letters regularly and when the time was right I got the address.
