The end of World War II has brought about many changes in developed societies across the world. During the war, a majority of working men were required to fight overseas, which allowed women and immigrants to enter their own careers on a large scale for the first time. Furthermore, the war helped develop the economy in a manner that reversed their policy of neutrality, and helped them enter into the international trade marketplace. Overall, these issues were important because they significantly impact the country’s current social and economic standards. World War II paved a way for developed countries to become prominent in the world setting, which allowed it to demonstrate its power both in terms of military strength and the ability to do business.
The fact that World War II encouraged women to work is both a local and global issue. Overall, women were required to work to fill in for men that left to fight overseas. However, when the men returned, many women were unwilling to give up their positions, which began a fight to keep women in the workplace. While in modern times, it is normal for women to become workers, this idea was far from expected prior to and during World War II. However, the women’s rights movement around the world and encouraged women in many developing countries to fight for their ability to work and become educated. Many human rights movements now focus on the ability for women to have equal rights compared to men, which are significantly in some countries, such as Afghanistan, in which women are oppressed for a combination of religious and political reasons. Because of the events of World War II, we now have a greater understanding of what is socially acceptable with respect to women’s rights and have made great strides in fighting to ensure women both locally and globally will be able to have the same rights as men. This problem was partially resolved based on the fight for equality, but it is a fight that has not yet been won.
Next, since the end of World War II, the world’s economy has grown significantly and many countries have become increasingly involved in international trade. This is an important shift for developing countries because prior to World War II, these nations were generally unwilling to engage in economic or political alliances. However, after becoming involved in the war, these nations sought to strengthen the alliances they had already formed through trade. As a result of these new political and trading policies, companies from these nations have been able to establish their operations all over the world, which has helped strengthen the economies of these nations. This is a somewhat problematic issue due to the intense focus that these countries now place on their economies, and the associated support this provides for large corporations. \This is an important change because it has helped shift the lifestyles that people in developed nations enjoy, which allows these countries to live more luxuriously than people living in other nations. On the other hand, it detracts from the freedoms of many people because more rights are given to these corporations than to people in need. An example of this is the tax breaks that corporations receive while taxes are increased for the poor. To fix this, many people have protested and lobbied their governments. As a result, some government assistance programs have been made. However, this issue is not completely resolved.
In conclusion, two major issues that developed nations have experienced following World War II is related to women’s rights and the growth of trade. While both of these are necessary for the future of the world, they come with many negative points. For example, women’s rights are not fully granted and the growth of trade can interfere with the rights of citizens as well. However, it could be said that human rights are in a better place than they were prior to World War II, although there is a lot of room left to grow.
