The Essential Rise of Technology in Live Presentation, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 223

Essay

When a speaker opens a Power Point file for a marketing presentation or uses satellite imaging to add detail and emphasis to a discussion on the world’s deserts, his audience is involved in an experience that was virtually impossible to imagine only a couple of decades before.  Technology – from the laser pointer to the videoconference – have elevated the craft of live presentation unlike anything before.  It is possible now for a speaker to not only use vivid imagery and sounds to illustrate a point, but also compile the most up-to-date studies, essays, and other information via the Internet.  The use of technology in live presentation was certainly an inevitable evolution.  As people incorporate more machines into their daily lives (Smartphones, tablet computers, iPods, etc), they become more susceptible to receiving information in a digital form.  Just like reading aloud to children and showing them the illustrations, pairing words with images is a simple and effective way to get people to understand and retain a message.  With recording technology, that message doesn’t even need to be memorized; people can save and refer to it on their personal media devices, which insures that they can relay information accurately to someone else.  As technology makes our world smaller, it also becomes a part of our society, and that includes changing the way we learn.
