The Essentials of Doctoral Education for Advanced Nursing Practice, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 338

Essay

The DNP Essentials state that nursing practice must be ethical in several aspects so that the highest level of nursing practice may be achieved. In order for an individual to be an effective nurse, they must incorporate the biophysical, psychosocial, analytical, and organizational scientists into practice (ANA, 2006). This indicates that the DNP nurse will concern him or herself with research that helps elucidate knowledge of essential life processes, determine a psychosocial assessment of symptoms, and to analyze and understand results as they relate to other knowledge gained in the field.

Ideal health care researchers utilize the concept of evidence-based practice to understand the full range of importance and scope of the significant of health and healthcare delivery phenomena. Some of the actions that are currently being utilized to enhance healthcare delivery involve the determination of the efficacy of the use of new methods, such as electronic health record systems (Bowman, 2013). Other studies attempt to determine how the behavior of nurses impacts the treatment of patients. While these outcomes have generally been effective, allowing for the transformation of how healthcare information is stored in addition to providing information as to how nurses should effectively interact with their patients, there is always a need to learn more about these relationships.

New practice approaches can be based on nursing theories and theories from other disciplines. For example, biomedical scientists must agree to terms presented by the Office for Research Integrity (ORI) that promotes ethical behavior and focuses on the protection of human subjects (Office of Research Integrity, n.d.). It would be essential to incorporate these guidelines into nursing research as well. Preparation in the New Student Orientation will help me succeed at Chamberlain because it will help me fully understand the requirements for the program.
