The Future of the Entertainment and Innovative Technology Industries and my Contribution Within It
Today’s technological advancements are clearly focused around providing people with customized, personalized, and interactive entertainment tools. In the future, customers will be able to filter and personalize content that is delivered to them through mobile devices and wearable technologies. I decided to study the future technologies of innovative entertainment industries in order to learn how to uncover hidden opportunities for marketing and education. Applying for the above scholarship would allow me to learn more about innovations that could develop into entire entertainment and educational industries.
My place in the entertainment and innovative technologies would be to research future and emerging opportunities for improving customer experience. A recent The Next Web article (Sawers), it is highlighted that streaming content directly to the end user is likely to develop even further. When looking back two decades, it is evident that content on demand has quickly become very popular among users. Instead of having to buy a DVD and play it on our device, now we can subscribe to Netflix and select the movies. However, streaming content is no longer a standard service. Online services, such as search engines and streaming sites, blogs are now learning more about the end user. Netflix, for example, learns one’s taste, based on their ratings, and creates related recommendations based on previous movies watched. The intelligent technology behind Netflix’ recommendations, as well as Amazon’s product picks and streaming interface is likely to be only the start of a revolutionary overhaul of the technology and entertainment industries. Soon, mobile device tracking would make it possible to get prices of menus in nearby restaurants, bring up the theater and cinema listings based on the user’s location, or even “bump into” our Facebook friends who are walking down the same street.
Several intelligent solutions can be created by information technology software developers, and I would like to become a part of innovating the industry. I would like to create applications that do not only make researching easier, but also customizable and fun. As a computer science scholarship recipient, I would also like to discover opportunities that can make learning and collaborative creative work easier, safer, and more productive. I would like to focus on collective learning applications that can be utilized by online and campus-based colleges. I believe that Android and other software technologies already have the ability to support users in discovering more about things they are interested in. While the majority of applications created for Apple and Android devices are designed to provide entertainment for users, I know that the operating systems can support online learning and taking knowledge sharing to the next level.
The impact of technology on people’s lives is likely to increase every year in the future. This means that developers will certainly face several challenges, such as security and privacy issues that need to be addressed in a timely manner. While focusing on filtering and personalizing content, enabling collaboration and communication, the future entertainment and information technology industry also needs to develop safeguards that will protect those who are using the devices and software to learn, play, and relax. As a computer science scholarship recipient, I would also like to research tools and software that make interactive media and learning safer and more reliable.
